Hi,

Sorry to bother you again. Thanks for you help with my previous questions.
We have been slowly researching your product and testing various scenarios with our software. The problem we have been encountering is with hot fixes or field fixes. For us, these are generally released on an as needed basis when bugs or other problems are found. Our clients only install the field fixes when the bug applies to them because often the field fixes address very unique problems that are not encountered by many users.

For some of our older products we currently have upwards of 40 field fixes. Each of these generally consist of one or two modified .dll files. These field fixes can be installed in ANY order and should be able to be removed in any order.

For example, since any fixes can be applied in any order, let's say that the client installs field fix A on top of the base version of the software. They then need to install field fix D. This works fine assuming that patch D has been built with permission to install on top of version A. The difficulty here is that say you release a new patch 'I'. All previous patches (A - H) must now be able to install on top of I. This means that any time a new patch is released, someone has to go into all of the old patches, click the check box for the new version in the differences manager, and then rebuild and redistribute all of the new patches. This also creates the concern that old patches will remain in circulation.

My question is: Does Patch Factory have a solution for this scenario? If so, could you please give me instructions on what options to set or architecture to use when building the patch. An ideal patch for us would be able to simply replace the old .dll files with the new ones regardless of which patches have already been applied.

If Patch Factory cannot handle this, do you know of any other software that might be more suitable for our needs?

Thank you very much for you time.
